My Guitar Site will be redesigned
Dear guitar friends.
In the weeks or rather months to come, I will redesign my website.
I never really planned to make to make a large website. But I got positive response for the historic lessons published some time back in the 80s. I put these and some other materiale at my site at University of Oslo. Then one day a friend told me that my guitar pages was among the most visited webpages at the University. Inspired by that, I got my own domain close to six years ago.
It was then just flat HTML-files. Later I change to ASP, which made it easier to keep things up to date. But I have to move on. I is needed to put at least the bulk of the material into a database. And I have to add some blogging software. The blog that I am using now should of course be a part of my site, and it will be. I will also include tools to help me keep links up to date, and to better follow up when people are suggesting links.
I plan it as a gradual process, with new functions added when they are ready. When this work is done, then I hope I can do something with the back log of things that should have been done with the content.
I appreciate comments. When the redesign is done, you should be able to comment on the site. Look back to http://www.torvund.net/guitar from time to time, to see how it develops.

Hi Olav

Hi, Olav
I am a management consultant in the U. S. who is also a guitar hobbyist.
I am continually impressed at your knowledge of music and guitar subjects, and your ability to combine those traits into an entertaining, instructive site.
Please continue. You are affecting many peoples' lives for the better.

Hi Olav
great site - filled out some missing gaps in my knowledge very nicely and got my lead guitar technique working more fluently in more keys - I am very grateful to you
Bob
I'd learned many of those from great b.b. king . . . thanks for your reminding me . r.k.
are perfect fifths called that because major and minor always have the same fifth?
I've learned a lot from your site sir. Thank you very very much for the information. The way you explained the theories are perfect for those like me who know nothing about it. More power to you sir. God bless
Olav:
Your site is fantastic. I have been playing over 20 years and you put together the best material. Please keep the site up.

I suggest thinking about implementing the new site using Free Software. It doesn't cost you anything and in my opinion is better. There are plenty of CMS that you can use freely (free as in free of speech http://fsf.org, to know about linux and free software: http://www.getgnulinux.org).
Cheers!
I ran across your site while Googling "8 bar blues" Not only did I learn exactly what I wanted to know. I found enough guitar lessons to keep me busy for years! Thanks so much.
Wondering when the blog is gonna be updated?
Guitar Reviews
Thanks so much for your fantastic site! I have become very intrigued by your info about the circle of fifths/rags. I've been trying to find early guitar rags (20's, 30's) with limited success. "Woman Be Wise" by Sippie Wallace is a great one. Can you give any other information about early bluesy guitar rags? Particularly important ones?
I am a bass player with questions. I've been wondering if anyone can help me find a place that I can buy a sheet of acrylic so I can try and make a acrylic bass for a school project. The sheet has to just big enought to make a guitar out of it length needs to be atleast 2ft, width needs to be atleast 2ft, and thickness needs to be atleast 2 in.
Thankx

your guitar site is great
I found a guitar tab with some chords I don't know, perhaps you could help : Am+7 ; E7+5 ;
To gael
E7+5 is often written E7#5, and is the "Jimi Hendrix signature chord". You start with an E7. The #5 indicates that the fifth is sharpened, which in practice means A instead of G#.
Am+7 - I am not familiar with this notation. But I assume that this is an Am with a major7, meaning G# instead of G.
Firefox and menus
I know that these menues don't work as they should with all browsers. I use Opera, and have the same problem. But I hope that there will not be too long before I can launch my new web.
To Dennis:
I will appreciate more information on Arti Funaro. And I will include what you have posted.
